Just started keeping plants. So I've been reading a lot of stuff especially about nutrients. And just wondered if any one ever use multi vitamin as a possible source of nutrients. I was looking at my multi-vitamin and this what I,ve got
Nutrients plants need:
Phosphorus -vitamin has 48mg
Potassium -vitamin has 200mg
Baron - vitamin has 150mcg
Iron- vitamin has 9mg
Nickel- vitamin has 5mcg
Copper - vitamin has 2mg
Manganese - viamin has 2mg
Molybdenum - vitamin has 25mcg
Zinc - vitamin has 15mg
As from what I've read these are all elements that plant needs to grow
The only thing missing was chlorine and sulphur. And if anyone would like to check I've got this info from one a day active vitamins. So is possible to use multi-vitamins if so what would be the possible draw backs to this.

Hmm, the only issue there is controlling the ppm required for your tank. Trace liquids from the shops will give you a dosage guide, vitamins for humans won't have element levels at the right ppm per element for aquariums and who knows what else they've used to bind the tablets which may be bad for the fish.

Stick to aquarium safe stuff, it is not particularly expensive, if you want to save more then hunt out the powdered trace element mixes online, £5 of powder will last my 15-gallon tank for about 10 years!
