As male guppies do I’ve had nipping in my aquarium so I recently added more males to reduce aggression. One of the guppies with a nippier tail hasn’t healed for a few weeks now. I’ve examined him closely today to see a very tiny piece hanging of his tail. This doesn’t look like his tail it’s more a stringy attachment. I’d take a picture but it’s that small I highly doubt I’ll be able to get it on camera. I am worried it may be early signs of fungus and finrot. I had another male guppies tail change to almost a blackish red within a few days of purchase. Over the months he’s just got darker. Any advice is appreciated. I have got a lot of ammonia in my tank at the moment as it’s cycling so I was assuming this was the reason as to why the healing process was taking longer. I’ve had nipped tails heal within a few days in my tank when there is no ammonia at present. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Hey doctor, I have a rash. Doctor says "can I have a look?". No doc you can't. Doctor says "well how am I meant to tell what the problem is?"

I can't tell squat without a picture. If you want guesses then we can all guess, but if you want information, post a pic of the fish.

I may have to look for further signs. The size of what it attached is only likely to be seen with a camera that has some sort of maginifying glass built in. Thank you.

I think you were right. It was gone within the 5 minutes so it can’t have been anything to worry about. Thank you :)
