Someone Is Giving Birth In My Tank!

OMG i just looked in my tank and discovered 5 little baby fry! im not sure if its my platy or my guppy thats giving birth bc theyre both acting the same. i also cant tell which fish it is bc the fry are so small i cant tell the species. so far no fry have been eaten bc theyre all hiding in the rocks and plants. ill keep everyone updated! hopefully ill see which female is giving birth!

I would definately say it's the guppies giving birth. Congrats! The fry should grow as guppies, in my experience, aren't overly predacious of their young. Although any other fish present surely will see them as a tasty treat.

But is the not as much a change of it being the platy?
Both are just as likely unless your with shi24137 and looking at the fish.

I find my guppy fry when first born stay at the top of the tank and platy fry hide near the bottom,

Guppy fry in my mind appear to have longer bodies and look more formed that platy fry which look like little things with 2 eyes and a little tail.

It's possible to tell but very difficult with out experience.

And cant describe it personaly.
You can say it's where you find them though as this depends on how much air they have in the swim bladder, if it's well developed they will swim better, poor fry tend to have less gas in the swim bladder and be stuck around the bottom.

ok so yesterday i sat in front of my tank for about an hour, ive figured out that it was in fact my female guppy that was giving birth. she would swim fast all over the tank and when the heater turned on she would stay right beside it and flex her fins a few times and bam! out pops a baby! and everytime her twin or some other fish tried to steal her heat she would chase them away! as far as i know she didnt eat any fry but there's no telling when i had my back turned. now mommy and fry are doing well, theyre all hiding in my rocks, gravel, and plants.
