Someone gave me a tank

Someone gave me an older fish tank today. It hasn't been used in a while and I need some advice on how to clean it up and get it ready to cycle.

ANy help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What size is it? I would run a water test to see if it has any holes or cracks.

It is just a small 10 gallon tank. I have it full of water now to see if it is going to leak.

A free tank is always a good thing!

If it has dried on algae or hard water marks, a little white vinegar and a plastic scrubber will usually get it off. If not, a good washing out with salt and water will be all you will need to do.
