I noticed some leaves are floating on the surface recently, the leaves are from water sprite, riccia and an unknown big-leaf plant. The detached leaves are all green and healthy, which means it is bitten off by ....

suspects:

1) amano shrimps - I heard from my LFS, saying that once it has grown up to certain size, it will no longer helps in clearing algae. Is that true? Could it change from eating algae to leaf?

2) Flying fox - It is about 2 inches long now, it likes to eat flake. It keep chasing other tank mates too. COuld it be the one who did this?

Besides having these 2, I have neon tetra, albino cory, cherry barb, oto, guppy, molly, cheery shrimps. Where I don't think they did that...

What do you think?

Well, of the 2 suspects, i'm only familiar with the shrimp. I do occasional find healthy leaves of Anubias floating but I have plenty of potential plant munchers in my setup so I never considered that it could be the shrimp but I suppose it's possible.

Can you isolate the shrimp to see if that makes a difference?

I also think amano shrimps are the main suspect. I will move it to another tank soon.

I'm pretty sure that the sprimps can be ruled out as possible suspects... I've kept Amano srimps for over a year now... and they have done an excellent job with algae blooms...

Mmmm, then this becomes more complicated.

I will keep observing who is the one did this.

I noticed some dried browny spots on that big-leaf plants, something is not right with it, this plants lost the most leaves (the leaf floating up in good health).
