Ok, I have a couple of completely unrelated questions so if anybody could be bothered to answer them I'd be grateful.

1) What other foods can I feed to my fish? The angelfish and rosy barbs will eat boiled cucumber, and all the fish love earthworms which have been boiled then frozen so I can keep them a long time. I try not to feed these too often because they're high in protein. Apart from that all I have are fish flakes. Is there anything else I can feed that will vary they're diet?

2) Can I keep ghost shrimp in a 20 gallon aquarium? The biggest fish I have in there is an angelfish - will it eat them?

3) I have a couple of plants in my 20 gallon tank, but it looks kinda bare. I don't have/can't afford any fertilisers or special thingys like that - so what sort of plants can I get? The plants I have just sort of go yellow and die off eventually. Is there not enough CO2? Is there not enough light? Should I get (shudder) fake plants?

Thanks in advance ;)

1) bloodworm daphinia brineshrimp (frozen or live) the fish will be grateful.

2) yes you can keep shrimp in there, not sure if the angels will eat them though, but if they do, add them to my answer for Q1 :D

3) Java fern, Java moss and Anubias are good in low light, I have them in all my FW tanks and they reproduce all the time.

I feed my fish once in a while: Spirulina pellets, Shrimp Pellets, Freeze Dried Brine Shrimp & Bloodworms.

Jflowers is correct, but watch out for java moss, if it isn't properly handled it can become impossible to catch fish (net gets caught in the ball of java moss) :D

Hiya

Its possible you don't ahve enough light, and/or are trying to grow high maintenance plants. here is my list of plants which seem to thrive on neglect - i have them in low light with no fertiliser or anything:

hygrophila polysperma
hygrophila corymbosa "siamensis"
cryptocoryne wendtii
cyrptocoryne willisii
anubias nana
anubias barteri
amazon swords ( these arent doing as well as the others, think they need a bit more light)
java fern

ask your lfs if they have any of those :)

Thanks all.

Whats the plant called that grows like wildfire and spreads itself along the floor of the tank. Its like kind of spidery and green and it doesn't have roots. Just sort of rests on the bottom.

Any ideas? I think it would be good for covering the bottom of the tank and stopping the fish looking so washed out from the light coloured gravel.
