just thought I would share these with you.

I think she has eggs in there which she is guarding, he had only gone in there to get some food which had floated in there.
She was until recently rather fat and had a very very red belly, now she is much thinner and the redness is now more pink, she is spending loads of time in the pot and he is hiding behind the plants ready to ambush anything which goes near the pot other than the female.
I have a target fish in there which is a guppy, it's tail is looking a little ragged so I am assuming it has been nipped a few times.

sounds like they have spawned. usually kribs will lay eggs on the roof of the cave or structure. not always though. if you see no eggs in the bottom of the pot, she may have laid them on top underneath of the pot.

She can't get underneath the pot, there is gravel there and I don't think she can get under it. I suppose it could be possible that she has laid near or in the plant as this is where the male is hanging out but she won't leave the inside of the pot. The problem is the pot is quite deep and I have put it in at an angle so as I can only see one side, I think she may have laid on the side I can't see possibly for privacy reasons.

a guppy as a target fish ahahah.. arent the targets supposed to be able to swim away lol... like a danio or something :S

sorry, i was a bit confusing. i meant if the pot is laying on the side in the tank call it a cave. kribs will lay on the roof of the cave instead of on the bottom floor of the cave.

I've got a pair set up in a tank of their own because I'm trying to get them to breed. They were originally in my community tank, but I think having it on their own is better than being goggled at by all the other fishes.

I'm intrigued. Do you have just the three fishes in the one tank? :D

what semper means is like this..
they lay the eggs on the 'ceiling of the cave/pot.

heres one of mine where you can clearly see eggs on the ceiling..

Hmmm, will have a look see if I can see anything like that. like I said though the pot is quite deep.

No the tank is divided by a partition. I have molly fry in the other side. My kribs were in a community also though and I removed them when I realised they were a couple in the hope that she would lay.

dont disturb the spawning site.... as hard as it is you would be much better off just being patient and waiting..(its hard i know) she will deffinatly eat the eggs if she feels there is any threat.

I have noticed that recently both the male and female have got loads of like golden yellow colouring. Neither of them had this type of colouring until I have started suspecting that she has laid. Is this a normal colour change. I notice in your post gixer that your krib has the same gold colour markings around her gills.

very normal yes...

they both look amazing when they spawn....shame they dont look like that all the time isn't?... males are pretty drab the majority of the time

When I said that I will have a look I meant that I would just look through the glass of the tank, I didn't mean I would move the pot. (sorry didn't make myself clear.)

Due to the colour change then I think I can safely assume that they have spawned and that I can expect little krib fry in the near future (as long as she doesn't feel threatened in any way and eat the eggs.)
