I see this kind of stuff all the time, in homes, shops everywhere... Really pisses me off.

I fit a kitchen in someones house and saw a large blackmoor and ordane together in a small 12" diamiter goldfish bowl, i had to say something.

I told my mum about it she said not every bodie dose things your Way, you should't of said anything which made me mad.
So i said to her if some one kept razzy (my mums german sheperd) in a tiny cage would you be happy, se said i'de be fuming, so whats the difrence, there fish she said.

people think it dont matter how you treat them arrr

That goldfish in the last photo speaks for itself really, it looks terrifically unhealthy.

That's so sickening... it really gets my back up.
It's not as though the relevant information about keeping fish isn't readily available! Even if you don't want to spend £2.99 for a little book, you can go online or look through the phone book for fish keeping clubs and give someone a call! There's no excuse for that level of unashamed idiocy.

i got into a lil argument with my friend last night when i was taking her 'spongebob aquarium' off her hands (she won it at a party). i figure it might be an alright home for a betta (i haven't really looked at it yet as it was in a box, but i know it's small) she says 'every fish i've had in there dies, so take it. i asked her what she kept, and she says goldfish. i started to explain why they were dying and asked her if she cycled it. she replies "yes, it was clean, i cleaned it". me - "no, did you CYCLE it with amonia and test the water?" her- "yes, i cleaned it i did it all right and they died". then i went on to explain that a goldfish needs at least 20g of water.... she replies "but it shows a goldfish in the picture on the box and why else would they sell goldfish bowls?"

i had to give up. she didn't care... and i couldn't think of a way to convince her that the pictures on the box are bull####.

at least i have the tank now so no more goldfish will die in it.

Most people are just uneducated about aqua hobbies.

They think bowl and fish and water that's all they need, Until somone brings it to their attension they wont figure it out.

Sure it's sad but nothing to be mad at them for unless they know it's extremely undersized and dont care.

my 2 cents

I totally disagree there I'm afraid. It is the responsibility of the prospective buyer to do the necessary research into the proper husbandry of an animal before the purchase is made. If they can't be bothered to flick through a few books or do a Google search then they do provoke the anger of others and for very good reason.

I really hate people like that, before I even got my first fish I did tonnes of research.

If you just made sure that fish shops didn't sell fish to those kinds of people there would be no problem #sigh#

i think there should be laws on the advertising used on the front of the box of small aquariums.

i bought a 5g which had a picture of 2 swordtails living in it. totally false and misleading for beginners. yes people should do their research first but the manufacturers of these things are really not helping matters - they make it all very confusing.
