All I done was changed 10 percent of my water out this evening and since then my ammonia has shot up off the chart high I didnt vacum the gravel this time because it wasnt time for that I know your not supposed to get a reading out your tap water but I got a high reading on that to could it be that I am drinking water with ammonia in it or mabey my testing kit is out dated my fish is not hanging out at the top if the tank or thier gills isnt red either I may be panicing for nothing I have had real good luck with them for over 2 months now (knock on wood) I knew it would run out/

Sometimes the most obvious things are what causes water to change so strangely. Usually thats the case for me. From what you have explained its seems like a normal thing to do. Perhaps super experienced water parameterians can help you on that one. :/

Take your tapwater to a lfs and have it tested ASAP, drinking water should not contain any ammonia and if it has ammonia in it you should report it to your water company imediately.
Hopefully it will be that your test kit is giving a false reading, if its not then its time for you to buy a RO unit i think.
