well i dont know if its odd or not but my female gourami has taking to staying hidden away away in the plants and the male circling her which looks like hes watching her making sure she is alright and if another fish goes anywhere near her he chases them away

now i know they build bubble nests so whats going on ????

Sounds like shes hiding from him being a bully.

Here are a few things I've read hope it helps and if anything is incorrect I would like to know.

1. If they breed the female has to be removed (bubble nest) because the male will guard it and attack anything that comes near.
2. 3 females to one male cuts down on the females being constantly harrassed.
3. Feeding less cuts down on aggression as they are too busy looking for food.
4. If you can't get more females the boy will have to go unless the food thing works.

I did hve some other ideas but I can't remember right now LOL too nappy brained.

Anyhoo hope this helps

I wouldnt say that hes harrasing her...more like protecting her they are swimming lovely this morning and late last night

but i think he has nipped at one of my guppies though!
