how often do they need to eat? I generally feed mine twice a day. Make sure you're feeding them food for african cichlids. There are some good staple foods out there that say they are specifically for african cichlids, and spirulina flakes/pellets are a good addition as well.

what other types of fish can i mix with them..perhaps some bottum fish...cats? Most synodontis species of catfish do very well w/malawis. However, I would wait until you get them in the larger tank before adding any more fish. Also, wait until you identify them, as they need to be in groups.

4- purple or blue with zebra stripes
there are several species with this coloration http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/category.php?cat=2
5- skinny/long somewhat blue/purple with stripes not zebra
Possibly http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=760
6- solid white with bright red/pink eyes
An albino of some sort, possibly http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1786

Hopefully that will get you started. And please move them to a larger tank as soon as you can, you're looking at world war 3 once they hit sexual maturity in that small of a tank. Good luck. :good:
