I've got a fury algae (maybe fuzz and/or beard algae) thats growing on plant leaves that I cant remove... its really on there! Also, I get buildup on the tank glass plus the usual blue/green/carpet algae. I know I should be able to control this with water/tank conditions, which I'm working on (lighting levels currently). But, I'm looking for fish(es) to also help maintain a nice and clean tank.

I used to have a common plec, and these guys always seem to keep the glass clean, however didn't touch any other algae. I'm told a bristlenose is good, and ottos also. But, with the type of algae i have and also looking for a good all round tank cleaner, what should I go for?!

i have 6 ottos in my tank, they do a great job. although they get fed other stuff not just algae. also i think they have so much character.

well it depends on your tank size for a start as some plecs can grow big..................also ive been told not to buy plecs specifically for getting rid of algae too though they do a good job at it

The best all around algae eater is the SAE. It is not appropriate for all tanks.

(for all those who are a bit slow: algae scraper)
