So guys, I had a tomatoe and clarki clob before but im not sure on what to get next?

Im starting over again having lost my fish but unsure on whether to get x2 clarkis (great fish) or x2 of the clowns below (miss wiggles pic by the way)

What do you guys think?

ive only got 1 clarkii b wish i had 2, but for the colours of a natural idian ocean clown his colours are amazing and most interesting character, good old gupter! tbh normal clowns i dont like they look nice when young then go fat when older lol. also i had some once they go fungus and just sat in one side of tank....

So go wild caught clarkiis they are the best!

Once i hand fed the fish seaweed, gupter came along and pulled it out my hands and swam round the tank with it while others chased him

Welll, clowns are best kept in multiples of two (ie 2, 4, 6) of the same species. So if you have one, you might want to pair it up with a second. Pretty much any clownfish except a maroon clown would be suitable for you. Maroons can get really big and will outgrow a tank 55g or less IMO. Clarkii's, skunks, ocellaris, percula, etc are all fine species to keep.

Hope that helps :)

Thanks Ski,

What type of clown is the one in the above picture?

Im unsure on getting 2 of them or 2 clarkis :S

What would you suggest?

there are 3 in that pic, I believe 2 are percula's and 1 ocellaris... or the other way around, I can't remember. The black on them is slightly different

Are they quite exciting fish?

The Clarki was fairly good fun but im tempting to have a change and get x2 of them instead. Not sure on if they are better or worse to keep though.

yer i wish i cld get another but if i put one in the tank now it be beaten sh*tless lol

Looks like an Ocellaris to me. COULD be a Percula, but probably Ocellaris. The two are very very similar with their true defining difference the number of spines in their dorsal fin. Also, USUALLY Percula's have more black to them than Ocellaris, but not necessarily always.

OHH! i want one now :D yay then 2 clowns will sit in my leather :p

Well, I'd get a pair of one or the other. I'd rather have just one pair of clownfish in my tank for some other diversity ;). And if I had to choose, I'd go with a pair of clarkii's since they're more likely to host in nems/corals than ocellaris or percula. Skunks are also very prone to hosting.

Well, its not as though they NEED a nem, or a coral for that matter, but if you do get one in the future, they'll be the most likely to host in it if thats a behavior you're interested in

Yes very true!

I loved the nem and when it started to die (after a night in the tank) I was just as upset as the clown (who lived in it all night)

I think that might of been 1 reason why he died aswell, and also that the tank got nuked from it!

Scared to by another 1 now though  :hyper:
