i hear salt mentioned all the time as a wonder cure..
but is it true in all cases, can it be used with all fish? how much do i use and is there a particular type i should purchase?
will it help my current situation? (see previous posts)
cheers :byebye:

I've never used it, but I believe it is used a lot to clear Ich. I don't think you can use it with Plecs, or some other catfish, and it has to be aquarium salt. Sorry I can't help you any further!

Salt is very good with parasites but you cannot use it on scalessfish. And it also is good to use on fish that has fungus.. I think salt does ok for mollies and guppies. But I wouldnt call it a wonder cure.. But it does to the trick on many things

would salt be alright on dwarf gouramis, ottos, bronze albino cory????
my gouramis has fungus

you can use salt with those, you should just use half the recommended dose which would be about half a tablespoon for every 5 gallons, salt is good with ich and fungases, it also improves gill function to help the fish relax a bit.

I have heard of people using salt on cories and pleco's. But I dont play with fire myself I dont use salt on sacless fish. I wouldnt take the chance of it harming my fish.. I think they are other treatments you could go with for scaless fish instead of taking a chance on killing them. But that is just me .

you can use epsom salt on scaleless fish and get the same benefits as from aquarium salt. won't burn the fish though and should only be used during treatments
