it had surfactants in it. It was labelled PURE AND CLEAR AMMONIA so I used

I got some CLEAR AMMONIA and it has water and ammonia... do I need to start over? Ive been doing this for 10 days

Start again i'm afraid. Empty tank and clean it out, refill and start again.

..............OR run some carbon in the filter for a few days, then start again.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

you need pure ammonia like what we use in the refridgeration game :hyper:

cheers dane

i got clear ammonia which only has deionized water and ammonia in it. Any way to find out the concentration to see how much i need to add to a 30 gallon tank?

Don't pour it in like I did! I put in way too much and had to start over. Instead, take like a gallon bucket, and put in 1ml. Then test it. Then do a calculation to determine how much total ml your should put in the tank. For my 22 gallon I use about 6-7ml. That gives me about 6 ppm to work with. I did it on the first try :D.

For a 30 gallon tank, I would start with about 4ml. That should get you to about 4 ppm or somewhere in that range. You can always add a little more if it's a little low.

well i have to used a baby dropper because i couldnt find anything else...the side of the dropper reads a max of 3ml. In order to raise the ammonia to 5ppm i have add 18ml. So essentially 6 full droppers

Use one of your test tubes (assuming you have a liquid test kit). The API tubes are 5ml to the fill line. Some other tubes are marked on the side.
