Hello. There seems to be a lot of these lately, and here I go contributing another
.
This little one showed no signs of being a male at all. "She" lived with the other girls for quite a few months with no problems. About 3 weeks ago she seemed a little bloated and was having trouble swimming, so I isolated her and treated her with bacterial and internal parasite meds. She recovered, but in that time her color became much brighter, and she started blowing litte bubble nests, and I started getting nervous. I decided to put her back in the main tank and observe her carefully, and to my horror she started chasing the other females and...gulp...flaring. From what I could tell it was a full beard, all the way around the...chin? But she never held it too long, so it was hard to get a good look. I quickly put her back in her isolation tank and went picture happy lol. So....what do you guys think? I just can't tell if she is a boy in disguise, or just really enjoys her own tank lol. She/he is very active so good shots were hard to get. Hope these help. Oh, ETA I just realized how fat she/he looks. I just fed him in an attempt to get decent pics. She/he is not usually at all this fat lol.
If "she" is indeed a boy...is anyone interested? I live in CT. I am going back to college soon where I am only allowed two pets, and although possible, my parents are not happy with me leaving them with yet another tank on top of the girls 29 gallon.
I also have this guy that I was thinking of rehoming, again due to leaving for college. (Long story short, last semester I could have a ten gallon tank, so I had three bettas. This year, I'm allowed 2 pets and I'm going to be bringing my 3 rats and 1 other betta...shhh. So, the other bettas would have to stay home and although they would recieve my parents care, I just think they would be happier with a fellow betta fanatic
).

Thanks in advance for any help
