Hi all,

I've recently setup a tank, and aquascaped it. I've added some xmas moss and am waiting on a delivery from The Aquatic Room (that seems to have disappeared in transit...) but I've notice what looks like whitish "snot" in the crevices of the wood...

I was hoping someone might be able to give me some suggestions of what it is... I'll try and get some picture to help with the ID.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think it's snail eggs, u can't see any dots in the mucus and theres really too much to be that...

It looks a little like the middle picture, but it doesn't really look like little strands... I think a photo will be the only way to be sure.

it can also appear like a big goo-blob...kinda offwhitish to yellowy.
did you find the wood yourself or order it already prepared? all sorts of things can spring up on wood. just scrape it off and do a big waterchange.
cheers

We bought it from TGM, and if I'm perfectly honest we didn't clean it... It didn't float at all when we first put it in so it just stayed in.

All the info on that pages about the causes would fit as the tank isn't running fully yet. Just being filtered and heated with occasional light for the moss. Not adding ferts or carbon yet as the plants havent arrived yet.

Thanks for the info!
