I have a tank with 2 angels,2 mystus catfish,and 4 sailfin mollys
Would it be ok to put a quite a big snail in there or would it be eaten??Do they have any desise that could be transferred to the fish(ive never had one before) -_-
Thanksxxx

You'll need to do research, as stated above, so check out the link. They need special food, and there are a few varieties to choose from.

Also, they are hermaphoriditic, so you might have to deal with a lot of baby snails, depending on the species chosen. :/

Don't mean to contradict Tempestuousfury, but Pomacea Bridgisii, one of the more commonly sold, and a few others are not hermaphoriditic, plus they lay thier eggs out of water, so if you dont want little uns, just pluck out the clutches as they appear. Female snails can store sperm for upto 6 months so its possible to get aggs even if you have only one snail and they will also lay unfertilised eggs occasionally.

The above link will tell you which are hermaphoriditic and which will eat plants.

Hmm. Well, google seems to be giving different positions on the hermaphroditism. :dunno: Either way, I bet you're right, though I was certain mystery snails were, since i had baby snails with only one, though it might have just taken a while for it to drop the eggs after mating (other snails died but I suppose they might have bred.)

You will wnat to get the Bridgesii's to make sure they wont eat your plants - and shops cant guarentee what species you will get.

However - if you were to but them from someone on here - they will be able to tell you what type they are

Did I mention that I have loads of little Bridgesii's that are in need of new homes :) )
