Sorry about the quality. Will try to get some better pics later. So is it good or bad? Will it reproduce like mad and take over my tank and plants? I have it in a QT right now. edit- yea seems like it's an apple snail. Thanks for the help guys! :) Mine looks just like this one I found on applesnail.com.

Most likely it won't reproduce unless it's a pregnant female. Apples are distinctly one sex or another and cannot self reproduce so you shouldn't have a problem with over population with the exception of it being pregnant.

It's harmless, unless you have plants and only then it might be dangerous depending on what species of Apple. Some eat plants, some don't thogh most are okay if they're given enough food of their own.

what kind of food do they eat?

Most are omnivorus and will eat most things you give them. Fish food (pellets and other sinking food is best) of vegetarian and carnivore nature and some fresh vegetables usually will be eaten.

I find mine up at the surface trying to pull some leftover freeze dried tubifex worms. He does a great job on the algea in the tank, and sinking waffers. Anything really.

My older snail isn't much for algae. He's "better then that" or something. My younger and baby snails however, eat every scrap they can get off the glass, decorations and air line tubing.
