i have just found 2 baby snails in my tanks. i think they may have come from the live plant we just bought but there is only 2 and they are both active and happy in the tank. if the breeding gets out of hand, which fish would you suggest to put in to get rid of them? i have a 70L tank with only 3 mollies and 2 snails in at the moment but i will have fry in there soon. :) :)
Also would you recommend keeping the snails or are they mainly a pest?
thanks

I think a few snails are good, & as long as you don't overfeed your fish you shouldn't have a population explosion.
I would never recommend getting fish to solve a problem

it's up to you. Do you want to keep them? the odd snail can be a helpful thing as they'll clean the tank somewhat. Problem is though that you could end up over run with them. Two can become 20 quite quickly.

Please do not buy fish to deal with pest snails.

well is there any way that you can remove them without killing them or harming other fish?

You could put a piece of lettuce or cucumber in the tank overnight.
In the morning the snails should be on it so you can remove them, but what do you do with them?
Sorry, but the only way to eradicate them is to kill them

Assasin snails will also eat the snails, but over a long period of time :good:
this is true but they only eat them when they get to a certain size. By the time they are big enough you could be over run with both varieties of snails
