I have a small 5 gal planted tank that i have cycled, which is a quarantine tank.. So far i have never had fish in it but i have noticed loads of tiny little snails. I cant take a clear pic of them cause they are about the size of a large pin head...they look like they have a spiral flat shell. i have no idea where they come from as the plants are all from existing stock in my other tanks. I was just wondering how i can get rid of them...
Thanks

what color are they? my best guess is ramshorn snails based on the description but they could be something else

here is a simple identification guide http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/75554-snail-species/

from the pics on that link you sent they look like ramshorn snails. What is the best way of getting rid of them but saving my plants.

i have heard of people dropping a piece of lettuce in the tank before the light goes out and by morning there should be lots of snails on the lettuce. just take the lettuce out and toss it. i know that lots of people have assasin snails in their tanks and the assasins kill the other snails

here is a pic of the snails... i am holding a penny coin against the glass to show the comparative size!
