i have 2 pond snails which i believe are those type that are both male and female so can lay eggs by themselves but if there are 2 of them would they prefer to mate with each other. i just happened to catch them crawling all over each other looked like they are mating. will they do this?

thanks

Snails mate like crazy if they have randomly appeared they are probably pond snails perhaps a picture would help with id unless you bought them and can give us the species

i posted a tread about 2 days ago with a picture and everyone confirmed they were pond snails. i took them out of the tank so they dont spread but keep them in a bottle so when they breed i can feed them to my puffers and bettas.

yeah ponds can breed on there own, i have a big one in my female betta tank, it keeps laying eggs but my betta has a taste for snail already

ok wel there is a plant in there and also i change some water every day with some water from my pond

They should be fine in the bottle if you keep up with the changes. :good:

Don't expect the plant to last long however, pond snails will eat plants if there isn't anything else around in my experience.
