I was just wondering if there are any snails other than nerites which won't disturb the plants in a planted tank. I'm having trouble finding nerites locally...

Thanks

Laura

Thanks Aaron, but I'm in the US...can't imagine shipping on those sites...

Apple snails wouldn't eat my plants? I've had mystery snails in non-planted tanks before and really enjoy them. Mystery snails and apple snails are the same right?

Thanks

Laura

Aquabid.com has a wide variety of plant safe snails. Spixi snails (if they are pure and not cross breed with columbian rams horns), Pomacea Bridgesii snails (sometimes called mystery snails) are plant safe and come in a variety of beautiful colors, Malaysian Trumpet snails live in the substraite and keep it well areated, Rams horn snails (beside the columbian) are plant safe, but mutliply a lot. Nerite snails come is cool colors and some have horns, they are the best algae eating snails and are plant safe. I have all of these snails in a planted 50 gallon and have no signs of anthing eating my plants. I do feed my snails 2 times a week with spinach, peas, zucchini, lettuce (green leaf and romane), broccoli, and green beans. I also feed algae wafers once a week. They do great and I love them.

This is one of my pomacea bridgesii snails it is a Dark Striped Perple. (it's a bit blurry may camera sucks)

Hope this helps.
