Hi all my little 3 year old daughter loves snails for some strange reason and i would like to get some to go in my tropical tank i know there are loads to choose from but is there any that dont cause to much devestation to the plant life in my tank? As i know meany a snail to like to eat though plants. Can anyone here give me any advice on this?
Fishy regards, Steve.
Trumpet snails are carnivores and will leave your plants alone, as they eat food your fish miss. They bury themselves in your substrate most of the day and come out at night, but like most snails, you can easily have a population explosion. I probably have over 100 of these guys in my 29 gallon, but I don't mind them at all... they aren't too bad looking, if you ask me
Most species of ramshorn snails will leave your plants alone as well.
Apple snails make a great addition to aquariums and they don't eat plants. Take a look at this site http/www.snailshop.co.uk/ to see the gorgous colours you can get in them.
