Hey. About a month or 2 ago I got a load of plants and set them up in the tank. Since then all of the cabomba died and I have reshaped the tank and have noticed my amazon swordy looking plants have random holes on quite a few of the leaves and now I have seen some big snails and a load of small ones all around the tank. Do you think it is them eating the leaves? Im not sure of the snail species but they have rounded yellowy shells and grow very fast.

If it is them, how do i get rid of them without harming fish or plants?

The fish in there are 4 platys and 6 cardinals, and other than the platys nipping the odd root coming out of the sand they dont bother the plants.

Thanks

If the snails are pest snails, ie.. small, came in on the plants, then the answer is no.

if the snails are apple snails, some species can eat plants yes.

I have no idea what they are, I dont think they are apple snails but I will try and get some pics

thanks for the reply

it must be just pest snails then if you havnt intentionally introduced them into the aquarium, otherwise of course, you would know what they are.. it must be just you wrecking the plants

LOL... ¬_¬

hehe

I think I am, my light had been broken for ages so it might be that

thanks for the help

i've got those pesky ramshorn snails, and im 99% positive that they munch on delicate plants like cabomba and wysteria once they have no algae to eat.

My tank has no algae and quite a few snails so thats why i thought it was them. here are some (shizzle quality sorry) pics.

It just doesn't look like normal rotting plant to me.

Daily snail hunting missions will help and reduce their population very quickly.

Yes you definetly have snails eating your plants.
