I have just discovered trumpet snails in my tank - I can see2 at the moment. I dont know how they have got there as I dont have any live plants and dont feed the fish live food. ANy ideas how they got there and how I get rid of them?? how do I keep them away too?
Reading around they seem to be a pest and mutiply rapidy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know the size of your tan, but clown loaches love snails!
Failing that a chocolate cat might help, but I find them a little lazy in this department. I try never to use solutions to get rid of this problem as I don't like adding anything to the tan if I can get away with it
As for the cause, they can come from anywhere, if you have recenty bought new fish, they can come in the water, without being seen

Malasian Trumpet Snails are great. I have them in all my sand bottomed tank, they turn the sand over and generally do good work.

ooooh send them to me as a tasty treat for my yoyo loaches. They cleared my tank of snails in 2 days.
