lol well, i was thinkin, about breeding snails fro my puffers but if they can CRAWL OUT OF WATER? then no? i was tinkin of dwrfs puffers and to make sure no one moves this to the invertabrate froum....

i am finally goin to get sum kulis!!! nomal ones or black kulis?

My pond snails do crawl out of the water. Then seems to like to travel up the glass and out of the water just far enough that they still have some water cohesion around them. They always stay within 1/2" of the surface and always go back in.

My small ramshorn and Malayan Trumpets never leave the water

I started a snail breeding tank about 2 weeks ago. I have bucket, maybe 3 gallons, and put an inch or so of pea gravel on the bottom and all the spare rocks and broken clay pots I could find. I had a spare air pump laying around so I hooked it up to some tubing and tied a knot in the tubing to slow the flow of bubbles down a bit. I put a feeder fish in and went to petsmart and got about 200 snails out of their tanks for free and put them in the bucket, and came home and rubber banded a cucumber slice and some lettuce to a rock and threw that in there. Water changed 25% every other day, and a week later threw some snails into my main tank which were promptly gobbled up by the puffers, loaches and knifefish. The snails crawl up to the water surface, maybe come halfway out of the water, but its not like theyre going anywhere far.

I had a couple snails I got for free from the LFS....I had them in a container with a lid (with holes) and some cucumber and lettuce in there with them...I looked in the bucket a couple days later and the sides were all covered in eggs! I guess they do breed like crazy! My little puffer loved them!! & I never had problems with them crawling outta the water...

Pon snails or ramshorn are the answer you can do a 100% water change with snails too. Don't go with MTS because they can close there operculum and will when eever the puffer comes near( I know mine do but the babies always get eaten)
