Snail Warfare!

1. Okay I have a 10g planted (my first try) and recently I've noticed i'm being over ran by pest snails. So I'm looking for a fish that I may put in to help me with this situation,I also have shrimp that I don't want to become dinner.

2. I also have a 55g with an Eheim 2224 and a tetra 600filter (came with the tank). Would I be okay over stocking a bit with about 6 yoyo's and about 8 khuli's loaches. Plan on planting the 55g so figure yoyo would take care any pest snails. I have 14 black widow tetras and 3 swordtails and 4 cories which ill move if the yoyo's and khuli's are okay.

Just want to get ride of the pest snails without using chemicals and not lose my shrimps cus I want them to breed.

And part two is my thoughts for my 55g to make sure I don't end up with the same problem as the 10g

I'm pretty sure any fish that eats snails will also eat shrimp, and same goes for medications that kill snails. If you want to put in loaches, I'd take out the snails and keep them in another tank.

I'm a little confused, too. Are you putting the yoyos and khulis in the 10gallon tank for now? If so, that's a bit too much overstocking imo, and unless your infestation of snails is incredibly huge, it seems unnecessary to me. I'm no expert on loaches though, so heh. ::hides::
