Well...after months and months of having snails as tank mates, my male betta has taken to ramming the snails in his tank. He knocks them off of everything lol. this morning I woke up to a couple of clunks. My lovely little one, had pushed the snails OUT OF THE TANK. So my poor snails were on the desk next to the tank, and my betta was staring at them, doing the wiggle dance.. So I put them back in....and around and around they went, courtesy of the betta lol. Should I be worried lol??

Oh my gosh lol... so I moved the snails out, and for the past two hours he has sulked in the corner. So I put a ping pong ball in, and now thats going around and around lol.

It occurs to me that the snail is the same color as the ball....hmm.....

lol  I guess I ahould have noticed sooner rather then later lol

HAHA! My grandfather had an Oscar that liked to play with a ping pong ball. At least he's enjoying himself!

although my betta leaves the snails alone (but odes watch them from time to time and follow them), he does get very very curious about new additions/changes to the tank...im going to try the ping pong ball and see what happens.

Some bettas will tolerate snails and others will hunt them relentlessly (and effectively).

Make sure those snails have ample food if you are planning on keeping them.

I've never heard of a betta playing with a ping-pong ball. that's a new one. Oscars love to mess with anything foreign in the tank.... and ping pong balls have been a hit with my guy

I'm pretty sure my bettas would just flare themselves silly at a ping pong ball.

Hey Remz, back when I first started using this forum and a few others, it was all the rage to have your Bettas play pingpong ball. Keeping the mind busy was the cure to a lot of problems. God I make it sound like it was many moons ago, only a few years  x

Might be an idea worth reviving.
I know a week or so ago, my most active betta boy responded to a small sinking pellet dropping in the tank by repeatedly bouncing it up off his nose for at least several minutes.
Had a great time with it.

ping pong balls, marbles, pretty much anything that floats lol...Since I have my boy in a open tank, I can do alot more toy wise lol. (And he has been in there for almost a year and has never tried the great escape lol)

**as I write this, I realize that marbles dont float. LOL**

worth bumping

hmm ping pong balls i might try find my ones of them

You could try pellet-shaped ones.
One of mine plays with sinking pellets, and another tried to nurture them in his bubblenest while evidently trying to impress the babe across the way.
Hours of amusement for them - and yet they're usually both such good trenchermen...

you never said what kind of snail you have. i keep quite a few different ones myself. there is a mystery snail in every tank, and a nitrina in two more algae prone tank. what do you keep.
