I collected 22 of these buggers from the lagoon and haven't a clue what they are. Before you call me stupid  (yes, I put them in my tank) I know how dumb it was, although no problems have shown...I'm curious what they are.

Here is a picture of one of them. They are 3/4" long and bury themselves in the sand during the day...at night they all come up and are quite active....very fast moving. They have that little foot thing sticking out of their head like a conch does. Any ideas?

looks like my Nassarius (sp?) snails

Edited to add, I didn't even read what you said, I just looked at the pic. I'm sure it's a nassarius by your description. Mine are very fast and bury themselves most of the time leaving only their antenna thing out of the sand

Nassarius. One of the more pricey snail specimens.
A must for those with a sand bed, and they are usually able to right themselves unlike many other species.

You can start collecting and acclimating them and post them for us marine folk in the for sale and wanted section.. :D

And i know that a friend of mine has them sent from the USA so i know they can surive transportation ;) :p

I was thinking about collecting more since I know of a great secluded spot to find them during low tide. I'll find out about the safe shipping and post something on the sell/swap board soon enough :)
