not sure if this is the right section but...

after having my plants for about 2 weeks, i notice 2 small snails on my pebles and glass front, so far ive only spotted the two but i no they multiply fast, so what are my options for getting rid of them?

i thought i would keep them to eat the algea that has been on the front of my tank then borrow a clown loach to eat them all.

my tank is only 60L, are there any other fish that i could get to eat them that i could keep instead of having to borrow?

I would take them out, had a snail outbreak myself once, not easy-going.

You can use cabbage (I believe?) to attrack the snails then take it out with them on aswell.

put a lettuce leaf of piece of cucumber in the tank overnight and the snails will be on them and easily removed :good: they will multiply fast especially if you overfeed the fish......

well you have natural and chemical ways to get rid of them.
there is the put vegies in there that attract the pest snails and you can remove it.
there is also finding a fish that will eat the snail, clown loaches espeically love snails, and will keep your population down.
the final method is to use a chemical to remove it, i don't like adding chemicals in a tank, just because i keep, snails i like, and copper is very hard to remove from a fish tank.

anyways good luck

i decided to minimize the risk and yanked them out :) hopefully that is that and i wont get any more :p

If this happens again, like said before, Clown Loaches are a decent remover of snails! My bro had a similar situation and needed them out, he bought a few Clown Loaches and they did the trick!

James.

see natual selection works even in fish tanks, my case since i like mystery and neitrite snails i could never have snail eaters.

I don't like buying snails because you get over run with them, i get snail eaters, does the trick, but some survive when they are on the hood, and i have even found some dried out on the back of the tank (out side the tank).

thats not true of all snails, mysteries are easy to spot eggs easily on the top of the tank. if you don't remove them you can get over run, but the eggs are so easy to spot it shouldn't happen, and the nitrates my second favorite snail, need brackash water to sucessfully breed, other wise you have no babies.
remember this.
free snails= bad snails
snails you have to pay for=good snails
