Smelly Water From Hose?

Hi all,

I'll soon be ready to fill my 180L but I noticed when I "test filled" it this weekend that the water that comes out of our garden hose smells kind of plastic-like. It's only a few months old but has been used several times to water the garden and such. I'm a bit nervous about using it to fill my tank with because of the weird smell but it will make filling it SO much easier!

Plus when I fill the tank I'm planning to mix a little hot water (filling with my kitchen mixer tap) to help it get to the right temp more quickly. I imagine this will make the hose soften and make it worse?

you sure the plastic smell isn't chlorine, I get that

i use normal garden hose to fill my tanks securing it onto a mixer tap to get the right temp before adding it. just add enough dechlorinator to dose the whole tank, leave for a few minutes to get it circulated then add the fresh water.

ive never had any issues doing it this way

My hose smells like a hose too. No problems from it.
