Hi everyone,

just can't keep me off this web site!!!

I have noticed that the water is a bit wiffy even after a water change. the tanks is just over 100 litres and i'm doing a weekly water change of about 20 - 30 litres. Any ideas would be welcomed.

I have an internal and external filter. The internal filter is a Fluval 4 and i have an ehiem ecco 2324 filter. I don't think the eheim is doing much as i thought it would. the in pipe is too loose. (my tank is a funny shape and doesn't give much access to poke the tubes through)

I came across these two internal pumps: Eheim Aquaball Internal Filter 2212 and Juwel Compact Filter 400Lph 40Cm. If anyone has one of these and would like to let me know how good/bad it is i'd appreciate it.

Many thanks

Martyn

every week. I have advised mum to cut down feeding to prevent over feeding. the water has stayed clearer and doesn't wiff so badly.

Do you get much excess waste floating around the tank? I agree if the fish have been overfed then it will make the tank smell more. If it is overstocked this will also cause the same problem.
For the fluval filter, if the water in the tank isn't very clear, you can buy a special Poly Pad sponge and put it in the filter, the white cotton-like sponge is so fine it will trap even the smallest of particles in the tank water, giving it an overall cleaner look.
How many and what types of fish do you have :) ?

Hi,

i have 2 dwaf gouramis
3 sword tails
3 rainbow fish
5 corydoras.

since i started this topic i have reduced feeding and reduced the amount of time the light is on. also i have removed the real plants as they were putting mess at the top of the tank. the water isn't so smelly now. I will be putting another filter in soon - eheim aquaball (the biggest one)

When i do a water change i use a gravel hoover. i do find a bit of food in the stones.

Thanks

Martyn
