The hood on my tank is quite smelly even when the water is clean and relatively stink-free. But I guess the heat from the lightbulbs and moisture make it stink. I tried cleaning it before with some all-purpose cleaner and wiping it very well and having it sit to air for a while before replacing it but it still stinks. What do you recommend? What works for you guys?

new hoods sometimes smell because they have never been properly used before, proberely nothing to worry about though

Well my tank hood ISN'T new. I've had it for a few months now. I don't mean a new, store kind of smell. I mean a nasty dirty fishy smell even when the tank is clean. What should I use to clean it?

Don't use soap or any other cleaners or chemicals as it could harm your fish really bad. My hood stinks a little too. Well it doesn't reall stink to me since I am used to it. It just smells kind of like fish to me. :dunno:

Try to locate the smell and use vinegar and salt on a scour or lemon juice if you dont want any chemicals.
