Hi,

Just curious to find out if there are aquarium fish that grow no longer than an inch at adult size? I've heard that Purple emperor Tetras belong to these category, but I'm new to freshwater aquaria and would love feedback.

Thanks

Hi Largesse

Im very new to fish keeping to, but just thought Id let you know I have a male wild guppy an (he is so cute) he is less than a inch. when I got him the guy in the shop said he wouldn't really grow much more as its the females that get bigger. Hes not like the fancy ones nowhere near as big but he is still very pretty, I cant believe a fish can be so small. Ive only had him a month so still waiting to see if the guy in the shop was telling the truth!

Hope you find what your looking for.

guppys grow about 2 inches-females a little bigger, unless you have gambusia/mosquito fish which are often mistaken as guppies. The only one I know is the neon tetra. It's about 1 inch but needs to be in a group of 6 like most tetras, I guess that's how they make up for being small!!

Male Endlers or Pygmy Cories (Corydoras Hastatus). Both only get up to about an inch or less.

I love platys they grow up to 2.5 inches.
