I have a small 2 (or 2.5) gallon tank with a betta. I forsee the start of algea growth. The tank is too small for a pleco, or such. Any suggestions??

snails. I fear any algae in a tank is just what happens mate. Its too small for a chinese algae eater, which may end up eating your betta also. Some live plants may help remove some nutrients from the water. Try duckweed, or other plants that could tolerate coldish water.

Java moss. You can grow that stuff in toilet bowls!

And why "duckweed, or other plants that could tolerate coldish water"?

Bettas certainly do not tolerate coldish water...

i'm sorry but by the time its too cold for a plant, you're gonna have a bettacicle.

i had a little 2.5 and never really had much of an algae issue. if you're really worried about it, your best bet would definitely be snails. you could get one ramshorn and/or one madagasgar trumpet with no worries of starting a colony. but once you get 2 snails of the same species, you're passing beyond a point of no return.
