is there anywhere in the uk you can buy small square tanks aproximately 1 gal/ 3litres? i ask square as it makes them easier to sit along side each other and just looks tidyer i guess.

 I have my betta in a 20 gallon community tank and he is so happy. He swims and plays all day. A one gallon just seems to small for any fish. It's like a person living in a closet. No room to move around.[/b]

1 gallon is suitable for a single male betta, provided it is kept clean.

how do you know your betta is "so happy" in a comunity? did you know that male betta prefer to be alone?

my idea is to have a row of small tanks (1gal was an example) each with a single male. unfortunately i do not have room for a 20 gallon comunity for each male betta i breed.

I have 3 of my males in FRF Aqua Boxes they are square and hold 1.5gallons

I've seen more rectangular tanks than square ones in the shops. P@H do various tiny tanks (unsuitable for anything but a betta / isolation tank IMO) fairly cheap, some come with their own filters.

You could always have them side by side but short end facing out (does that make sense?) if you were going to have them on a shelf or similar. I have to say I think 1g is a little small, but then I'd never put my betta in a community tank either. Each to their own I guess!

i can get them in a variety of sizes, pm me and we can chat about it. and ive also got some in the shop that im gunna need to be selling about 22 of them i think

In Wilkinsons you can pick up 2.5G tanks for £5/ea they are not square but they do stack and they can be sat side by side, in my eyes looking perfectly fine.

ive noticed them too, staples are doing small tubs as well, not glass ofcousre but you can still see inside them, they come with lids as well and big enough for what they would be used for

i think i know the ones, i already have 4 of them  but they are a bit awkward for cleaning if they are stacked.

i can actuly pick up 2.5 gal plastic goldfish bowls at my local pound store for £1 (strangely enough) each.

but bowls aint so practical

Have you checked out Whitefurse Strage boxes in departement/pound shop's. i have used them before and they only cost 1pound. Nice and Sturdy with strong lids. and tall rectangular shape.
If not then have a look for acrylic storage boxes e.g cd cubes.
I found some in poundstretcher for 4Pounds each and i just had to seal them.
