Im treating a pearl gourami for mouth fungus in a very small 15l tank.My usual hospital tank is being used as a fry tank.Im using melafix at about 1/4 teaspoonful a day.The tank is heated but unfiltered.Im testing the water daily
This is day 4 and the gourami is doing very well. However Ive tested the water and its showing readings of 0.25 amm and 0.25 nitrite
Do I leave water changes until the treatment has run its course as per the label or should I do one now .If so what percentage should I change?
Thanks

Daily water changes, just add the med back to the amount of water removed, wouldn't bother with the melafix , you need anti finrot and fungus med by interpet, plus i would also get some anti internal bacteria med by interpet just in case, plus add salt columnaris hates salt.

Thanks
Ive got both those meds. Will start the anti fungus treatment and add salt as well :)

If no inprovement in two days add half the dose of bacterial med, but you will have to have airstone going, good luck.

Agreed....you must rid the tank of ammonia or that becomes another stress to the fish. When treating my tanks, I do daily to every other day 10% water changes and then add the med after the change. Good luck. SH

Since the tank is unfiltered, i would use a product like prime or amquel to neutralize the filter. I know its not ideal, but since it is a short term solution for the hospital tank.

Though even with this, be sure to keep up with the water changes to keep these levels as low as possible.
