I've decided to start another aquarium. I have a 15 gallon that I'm going to transform into a small German Blue Ram tank. I'm only going to have 1 or 2 because I don't want to overcrowd. But no other tank mates. With that being said, I'm worried about bad algae blooms and need plants that can tolerate higer temperatures. I plan on keeping the water around 83-85 degrees for the Ram(s). Any suggestions to prevent algae blooms and good plants for higer temperatures?

The more plant the less algae as a rule, have two rams, try and get a male and a female. That temperature may be a little warm. Put an air stone in the tank for gas movement. The higher the oxygen content of the tank the better. Higher temperatures mean less oxygen so by lowering the temperature a little will improve their environment.

If you get a male and female they must be a bonded pair or you could end up with a dead fish. Rams need to choose their own mates, getting just any male and any female doesn't mean they'll get on.

82/83 deg F is perfect for rams, but I wouldn't go higher.

Thank you!

All common aquatic plants will be fine in warm water.

If you have an algae problem, it will be caused by an imbalance in light and nutrients. Either reduce the lighting or add more plants to use the excess light.

Your tank is big enough for a bonded pair of blue rams and they could breed in it. You could rear up the young and trade them for a bigger tank or other fish related items.
