slow on the uptake that is!
Why is it that whenever I put an algae tablet into the tank *Everybody* but the oto comes over to investigate the new food! I kinda want to put up a flashing neon sign "Food for Oto Here" with a big arrow pointing to it.

My otos don't seek out food either.
I've never seen one of my otos sucking on algae wafers, but they always seem to be fed

Ive heard turning off the lights helps them find food, because more active feeders use their sight, while otos tend to "taste" each little thing to try to find food.

I've noticed that too. I have dropped algae tabs right in front of their faces before and they ignore it. Then the danios get it and it's gone in no time!

My otos are the same way. And then the rest of the community rushes in to do the taste test for them... I've even tried blanched cucumber, but everyone else seemed to like them more... I turned out the lights and they still didn't want any... I don't know...

I have the same experience with my ottos and wafers (and to think I was so excited to finally find algae wafers and buy them so I could give my ottos "proper" food), but they do eat the cucumbers...
