hi all.i have some nasty brown slime in my tank its gloging etherthing up. the pipes to my filter are slowing down i clean them every other day . and my external filter i keep an i on.it. i have nether had this before can anyone help. thanks baz1906

Does the slime lift off in sheets and smell unpleasant? If so it could be blue green algae, (Cyanobacter bacteria). This is a photosynthetic bacteria, a bacteria that can grow on light like plants do. It is normally caused by dirty environmental conditions, not enough water changes or gravel cleans. Too much food in the tank and poor water movement will contribute to its success.
Try doing some partial water changes and gravel cleans each day for a week. Make sure you use dechlorinated water that has a similar temp and PH to the tank water. Cut the feeding back and see how it goes. You might also want to change the light globes depending on what you have and how old they are.

no its not in sheets . its just runny and sticky and the smell.?

I would clean your filter to make sure it's running ok, add some fresh filter floss.
How does it smell like rotten eggs or sulphur.
Is the tank marine or freshwater tank?
