Hi all,

Just had a really bad attack of Slime Algae.
I've cleaned up most of it, done a thorough gravel vac, even taken out most of the plants to clean off, prune and replant.

After a 50% water change yesterday, I've now covered the tank with two big quilts and killed the lights, shut off the CO2 and added an airstone and intend to keep it covered till about Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

Can you think of anything I've missed?

Also, when I uncover it (hopefully algae free) I intend to remove the airstone, slowly raise CO2 through the day, and resume dosing ferts (I'm on EI) once CO2 is up. Anyone think of anything else?

I got the tank (a Juwel Trigon 190; about 21" deep) lit by 4 x 18w lamps. Do you think this is adequate for EI? I'm thinking of replacing it with a MH lamp of about 70w - 150w, 7500K.

Thanks, Brian
