Hi,
sorry about this, if it's against any rules, but i'm a ad worried about my just ordered aquarium, after hearing some horror stories from my LFS. have any of you purchased any tanks either directly from BOSS aquariums, based in scotland, or any tanks made by them via your LFS? what's your opinion of them, I heard a pretty nasty story from one guy in the LFS and some not so nasty, bu still nto good stories from some staff there.

as a result, i'm considering cancelling my orer and forking out a fair chunk more money to get tanks made elsewhere. any feedback greatly appreciated (by pm too, if you'd rather not post the info publicly)

well you can wait for it to arrive fill it up in the garden and watch fro any leaks check all the seals make sure there all solid and it should be fine, every product has horror stories that go with them is part of the process :good:

How did you purchase the tank?
Was it a custom made tank?

If you made the order via post/phone/internet/email, and it isn't made-to-order, then you will be allowed a 7 day cooling off period when it first arrives to check it out etc. This is covered by the Distance Selling Regulations.

ordered in person, and it's made to order, so i'll be stuck with it, which i expected nyway. i was just hoping someone had ordered from them and could put my mind at ease.

Wrong. If the product sold is not fit for purpose then you are entitled to your money back under the Sale of Goods Act 1979.

However, I have seen a number of posts stating how good Boss Aquariums are on other forums.

humm horror stories, Juwel tanks split at a high rate, but it does not seem to effect their sales! was your LFS talking about tanks made for him? if not we all know how reliable FOF, friend of a friend, story's can be. i'd contact the places , where they claim to have made tanks for and just ask. However as mentioned the sale of goods act gives you more protection than you may think, protecting you not only when you first receive the tank, but offering you protection well beyond the first twelve months. I too have heard good things about BOSS tanks.

Boss are meant to be one of the best in the business for large custom made aquariums and systems, though that is only through hearsay as i have no personal experience with them. Prehaps the lfs owner is a bit narked that you arent buying your new expensive tank from him.

the guy in the LFS was talking about tanks he'd got from them (not employee in LFS, a guy who does tank maintenance stuff in businesses locally) he did recommend getting tanks from the shop we were in, as he'd had some problems with them, but not to the same degree, and they were rectified MUCH quicker.

also, i was a tad worried, aince i was quoted 40 quid less for the tank and sump tank (Setting up marine) than i had been elsewhere for just the main tank. i put it down to not having to ship a ready built tank, which is essentially a load of fresh air, expensively shipped fresh air.

hopefully i wont have any prblems, but i'll run he tank for a few days in the garage when it arrives i think.
