ok, so i don't have a garden so when my favourite oldest betta died in October last year, i buried him in a pot plant i had. now i have another betta who, despite my best efforts, may be going to the great big pond in the sky in the near future, and the plant in the pot in question went to the great big...er...pot in the sky, if i replant my peace lilly, and my poor betta on his last fins when he swims off, into this pot, am i going to be digging up a fishy skeleton?! that would seriously gross me out.

I think it should be long gone now.

Sorry for your losses

do you not have a toilet?....

i would imagine there are bones some where in there as far as i know bones dont rot?

i don't like flushing. i'd rather bury my much-loved and missed pets. would you flush a cute furry? no.

no since it would get blocked

Why not take a walk out and find a nice spot or something?

I burried a fish before (well had no choice lol cos of g/f)

Not long after, put a barbaque in the garden on a new paved section and when digging where it was, there was no bones, and it was a prety big fish (catfish)

ian - it would probably get dug up by a passing stray cat/someone's staffy/a mad squirrel
5teady - i was hoping that, i would figure that fish bones are less solid than other bones, certainly notice that when you're munching on fish and chips and get bones stuck in your teeth

I dont eat fish, dont like the taste of them lol, the barbacue as seen plenty of beef though

I would imagine that bones from fish would easily rot away (dont know the proper word, detiriate maybe? ahh well never went to school much so im crap with big words)..

Im 99.9% sure if you dig where it was, there will be no bones from the betta

You could always just dump the old soil and get some more. That way if there is any chance that there is still a fishy skeleton in there, you won't notice since it's being tossed out.

When my betta Sharkbait died I buried him in my garden. I was worried that I would find his skeleton when I planted my spring flowers but I didn't see anything left. I checked pretty thouroughly too. (don't know why, morbid curiosity???)
I think that since they're rather small they decompose pretty quickly. (just my thoughts, no scientific studies here)

Thats the word i was looking for

I wrap mine up in some kitchen roll and have a little ceremony over the bin. I have a lot of foxes in my garden and they can smell death a mile off.

Fish bones are much thinner and finer than human bones, mostly because of their size. Your betta's bones won't be there any longer. They would have decomposed.

haha you burry fish .... the weeley bin is gd enough for me .. less hasstle that way

Even if it had decomposed I think the thought that a dead fish used to be in there would gross me out :S
