hi everyone,

i have recently cycled my tank and have noticed a hazy bloom suspention mid tank could anyone throw any light on the situation ,my fish seem happy enough no signs of any adnormalities its not as clear as i would like i have two internal filters running .gravel substrate.
inmates are shubunkins.

thanks for any help. regards kevin.

bacteria bloom, if the tanks just recently cycled check your stats for ammonia and nitrite, it could be in a mini cycle caused by adding fish. it happens sometimes, daily water changes for a couple of days should fix it.

sorry for the silly question, but were the fish added after the tank was set up or at the same time?

how long has the water been cloudy?

how long has the tank been up and running?

other possibility is that the gravel was not washed well enough, but rule out the cycle first as that's most dangerous

i did a fish cyle,
the tank as been up and running about five weeks, the haziness has been there for about five days my readings are ph= 7. ammonia= 0ppm/mg/l. nitrite=0ppm/mg/l. nitrate= 20.

thanks kevin.

Mr Wiggle has it covered check that first of all. The only other option which sometimes occurs with sand bottomed tanks is Diatoms, this though is harmless and will clear itself.
