hi :good:
so heres my lil problem
i got a nice lil com. tank. in this tank i have about 10 neons,a male molly, a female molly, a female guppy.
i also have:
about 20 5 week old guppies
about 20 5 day old guppies
2 3 month female mollies
1 2 month female molly

i am getting a 5.5g tank for x mas. i was hoping it would be for a nice betta. but with all these livebearers and fry atm.. it may have to change.
im going to have to stop these fish breeding. as my shop will only take em for free, i am loosing alot of money bringing them up. so..
my idea was, as i have only one male, to see if my shop will take him from me. then id have only females. so, ok, they can still get pregnant for like 6 months or w.e, but when this is over, there will be no more fry and a happy bunch of nice females :D ( i figured all female is better than all male)
i wanan keep 1 nicely coloured female from this 5 week batch of guppies, to keep my other 1 company.
i will simply give my other fry to shop, and as i go there often, hope i get lil discounts n things :good:
so by the end of it, hopefully ill have :

10 neons
4 female mollies
2 female guppies ( i mite make it 3, but what do u think about the stocking lvls, its about a 22 gal tank, a rekkord 96)

and then hopefully i will be able to keep my new tank for a fighter, rather than it being a grow out tank for fry, until they are a decent size to give to the shop.

in my head this makes good sense, but i thought id post it and see, as sumtimes i get too bigger ideas that will never work.

would like opinions. thnx

* also, a 5.5g i think may look a lil empty, wid justa betta, what other fish would go with it? im thinking along the lines of a small shole of tetras of sum kind ? what do u thunk ?*

Your ending stocking level of neons and female mollies/guppys sounds fine to me, you might want to think of adding something to the bottom like maybe some kind of shrimp. Normally I'd say corys, but mollies really need some salt in the tank and corys can't handle salt.

As for the betta, unless you are extremely lucky, bettas don't get along with other fish, tetras are espcecially bad as they tend to nip bettas long tails. Their best tank mates are shrimp, apple snails, and sometimes corys (unless you can get pygmy corys, 5.5 gal is too small), or african dwarf frogs (be careful to get the dwarf frog and not the clawed variety), and depending on how aggresive the betta is, sometimes any tank mates become snacks.

Bettas shouldn't be housed with anything else. There are scenarios where it works out, but it's really touch and go. If you already have them in your tank and it doesn't work out, then you get the whole ordeal of deciding what to do with the fish. I've heard of African Dwarf Frogs and Bettas fighting too, so like I said, it's touch and go.

your level are in good condition.
i think you might need to put some corycats

Middle-Mollies and Guppies
