Hi.. I was wondering how long should the lights be out so the fish can sleep? Do they need a certain amount of sleep like people?? :dunno:

Your tank lights should be on for between 8 - 12 hours ( less if you have no real plants ) after these hours it is best to turn lights of for the sake of the fish and to stop algae taking over your tank.

I make all my swordtails go to bed promptly at 9:00 PM and then I wake them up at 6:30 AM. They always look at me like "hey - leave us alone! We want to sleep in!". Actually I go to work at 9:00 PM and get home at 6:30 AM so they don't really have much choice!

LOL They probably look at you like --> :grr: LOL
I usually wake mine up at 6am and then they go to bed about 9pm, so I'm not too far off from yours Polar. :) .. Mine don't always like to wake that early either. :/ . But I have noticed it's much easier trying to catch my mommy fishes right away in the morning before they really wake up... They don't seemed to be as stressed then :shifty:
