This might sound like a silly question to you, but here it is.

Last night my daughter and I were looking at our fish in our aquarium. I can't remember exactly how we got on the subject, but I made mention of skin when we were talking about the fish.
My daughter then said to me that fish do not have skin.
I told her yes they do.
My daughter went onto the internet and started polling her friends through email messages. They all seem to think that fish do not have skin. They have scales.
My daughter and her friends are 13 years old.
But, my 34 year old brother, and my 41 year old wife both seem to think the same way.
I agree that fish have scales, but what are the scales attached too?
Skin, right?

Who is right? Fish do have skin, right?

Yes, I have gone fishing and cleaned my own fish. And so has my brother.
I was pretty amazed at how many adults didn't think that fish had skin. I wasn't so surprised at the younger kids not knowing.

It is possible to buy clothes & shoes made from salmon leather - that's salmon skin, de-scaled and tanned to make leather.

Although the leather is made from a by-product of the salmon farming for food indusry, salmon skin clothes are vastly expensive to buy.

But I suppose you'd have to have more money that sense to want to wear fishie shoes anyway.

dont neon tetras only have skin aswell?

and isnt that why they cant have salt?

But some puffers have salt, and they can obviously have it (I think I just had a blonde moment there!)! But cat fish (plecos, otos, cories etc) can't have it at all...

So nope, I'm afraid to say that I think your wrong!
