skimmers

my brackish fig 8/goby tank is at a sg of about 1.004-1.005 at the moment, is there any point getting a skimmer, or will it not work at this SG? If possible to use one, can anyone reccomend a cheap hang-on skimmer? cheers

A skimmer wont work efficiently until the SG is at least 1.006 or above.

I cant remember the make of my skimmers but they are just very simple air driven ones that fit inside the tank on suction cups.

hmmm, didnt really want to go over 1.005 with the figure 8's, do you think they would be ok if i took it up that high?
