I am setting up a 60 gallon without a sump and I was wondering what type of skimmer I should use?

There are alot of Skimmers out there but i have a Coarlife super skimmer its rated for up to 65 gallon tanks. It comes with everything you need just plug it in i have it in my sump but you can also put in your tank. I had it in my tank at first, it works great skims out a ton of stuff cheap to at around 100$

I highly recommend either one of the AquaC skimmers, eg, the Remora, or, CPR BakPaks. If you are in the UK, Deltecs come highly recommended. SH

IMO Prizm's aint worth the box they come in

You cant go wrong with either Aquamedic or Deltec's IMO

Probably best coing for the MCE500 or 600

:D

The question was regarding a 60g not a 10g

The spec says so but from the reefers I have spoken to either in person or on forums (Reefpark, Ultimate Reef to name a few) the general concensious is that Prizm's are Crap & generally most peeps upgarde to better skimmers very quickly

:D

Try searching for a used Euro-reef skimmers.
they are the best a bit pricey but you don't have to buy any other skimmer.
One thing you have to consider is your budget.
But remember, buy the best equipment possible so that you won't have to buy anything when you decide to upgrade in the future.
Fish/Reef keeping can be a challenge but if you have the proper equipment and patience. it will pay off and you'll be satified.
You may also consider Berlin Red Sea turbo skimmers, they are rated for 60 to 250 gallons tank.
the design is a triple pass, the only thing is they tend to clog the air inlets but I can tell you how to make this skimmer very efficient by modifying some parts.
Call Berlin, and I know they selll used units for around $80.00

Lewis

ASM skimmers are awesome! Basically clones of Euroreefs, but made with more inexpensive material, the cost difference is huge. Don't go with a prizm, they are not worth the hassle, you get what you pay for. Ratings of skimmers are ony a guideline, oversize your skimmer whenever possible.

One question for the euroreef/ASM croud. Do either make a hang on version of their skimmer?

The only hang on I have had experience with was a coralife 125?, the middle size, and it was effective. There may be better hang ons I just haven't used them.

I have a prizm and would never get another one.

I am very impressed with the V2Skim skimmers from TMC.
They seem well made, and are pretty cheap.
